Dhorimana is a village in Gudha Malani tehsil of Barmer district in Indian state Rajasthan.
The name is derived from "Dhora", as this village is surrounded by sand dunes/Thar Desert ("Dhora") and Aravali series of mountains. Around 1974 this village was badly affected by drought, lot of animals died due to this & for people it was difficult to get food for both the time. Now in current situation this is no more a village, rather it’s a town. It is the biggest “Panchayat” of Barmer District. Following are facilities, which are enjoyed by villagers.
- Basic amenities like electricity, water at door step, buses for major and metro cities.
- Around 15 small and big schools (up till 12th Std.). These institutions provide good facilities for girls.
- Medical facilities: Government Hospital, Pvt. Hospitals & clinics.
- Medical facility for animals. Providing treatment for cow, camel, buffalos etc.
- Most of the houses are made of hard rock brick.
- Other facilities like police station, petrol/diesel pumps, banks, Govt. circuit house, PWD, PHED, post office (providing Union Money Transfer facility), water dam, electricity sub-station, telephone exchange, and temples for worship.
This town has points for picnic like “Farela Math” & “Gaon ka Jharna” (Village side water fall). “Farela Math” is located between two mountains. Lots of water falls during rainy reason, which provides beautiful view.
Currently main business for earnings are farming (“Jeera”, “Gwar”, “Ishabghol”), grains stores, clothing stores, pumping machines stores, LIC and modern business like computer education and communication.
