Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, a manga by Clamp, has been adapted into four different anime versions between 2005 and 2009, including a two-season TV anime series, an anime film, and two original video animation (OVA) series with screenplay provided by Nanase Ohkawa and music composed by Yuki Kajiura. Bee Train adapted the manga series into a fifty-two-episode anime entitled Tsubasa Chronicle directed by Kōichi Mashimo with Hiroshi Morioka joining on as co-director for season two. Hiroyuki Kawasaki scripted both seasons.^[1] Production I.G adapted the manga series into both an anime film entitled Tsubasa Chronicle the Movie: The Princess of the Country of Birdcages directed by Itsuro Kawasaki and two OVA adaptations directed by Shunsuke Tada entitled Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations and Tsubasa Shunraiki. Set in a fictional universe involving alternative realities, the story follows a group of five travellers—Syaoran, Sakura, Kurogane, Fai D. Flourite, and Mokona—as they search for fragments of Sakura's memory that take the form of feathers of great power and without which, Sakura will die. The series features much crossover with the its sister series xxxHolic, another manga by Clamp.

The first season of the anime series aired on NHK between April 9, 2005 and October 15, 2005 spanning twenty-six episode.^[2] The anime film aired in Japanese theaters on August 20, 2005. The second season of the anime series aired on NHK between April 29, 2006 and November 4, 2006 spanning twenty-six episodes.^[3] The first OVA was released between November 16, 2007 and March 17, 2008 spanning three episodes.^[4] The second OVA was released between March 17, 2009 and May 15, 2009 spanning two episodes.^[5]

The two seasons of the anime series were dubbed by the anime television network Animax under the title Chronicle of the Wings and later began broadcast on April 6, 2006 across its English-language networks in Southeast Asia and South Asia as well as its other networks in Taiwan and Hong Kong.^{[citation needed]} Funimation Entertainment licensed both seasons of the anime for English-language release in North America under the name Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle.^[6] Funimation has also released the first season of the anime in the United Kingdom through Revelation Films.^[7] Revelation Films has confirmed the release of the second season of Tsubasa Chronicle in the U.K. although no release dates have been confirmed yet.^[8]

Season 1

The first season of the anime television series Tsubasa Chronicle (ツバサ·クロニクル, Tsubasa Kuronikuru^?) features two pieces of theme music. "Blaze" performed by Kinya Kotani is the opening theme. "Loop" (ループ, Rūpu^?) performed by Maaya Sakamoto is the ending theme.

When Syaoran returns to his home for a change of clothes after studying the ruins, he meets his childhood friend Sakura, the princess of Clow Kingdom (玖楼国, Kurō Koku?). She convinces him to stay longer, and the two wander the town shopping together. At the end of their excursion, she attempts to confess her love for him, but is interrupted and forced to return to the castle. When Syaoran returns to the ruins, he is surprised to find Sakura there. A mysterious force begins to draw her into the wall and causes her memories to manifest themselves in the form of feathers. When he pulls her to safety, her memories scatter across the dimensions. The priest Yukito tells him to seek out the help of the Dimensional Witch and sends the two to the dimension in which she resides. Upon arriving there, two others soon follow: Kurogane who is exiled from his dimension for killing excessively and Fai D. Flourite who is running away from the king of his dimension.
2	"The Power to Fight" "Tatakau Chikara" (戦うチカラ)	Japan	April 16, 2005[9]
Transported to the modern day Japan (日本, Nippon?), Syaoran, Kurogane, and Fai ask the Dimensional Witch, Yūko Ichihara, to grant their wishes. Syaoran wishes to travel to many worlds to restore Sakura's memories. Kurogane wishes to return to his own world. Fai wishes to travel to a world that is not his own so as to avoid meeting his king. Yūko tells them that although their intentions are different, their wishes are the same. In order to have their wish granted, each must pay a price. She asks Syaoran to pay with his relationship with Sakura which would result in Sakura losing her memories of Syaoran, Kurogane to pay with his sword Ginryū, and Fai to pay with the tattoo on his back. Though hesitant, each pays their respective price, and in return she gives the group a white creature named Mokona Modoki who holds the power to cross to random dimensions. The group sets off to another dimension where a gang war is about to commence between two groups led by Kunio and Shōgo respectively who use a power called Kudan (巧断?) that can manifest itself as a familiar. A boy named Masayoshi finds them and brings them to safety. When Fai gives Syaoran one of Sakura's feather, taking it off Syaoran's shirt, the feather is blown by a stray blast. After running into the fray to retrieve the feather, Syaoran finds that he too possesses the power Kudan and interferes with the fight.
3	"Sword of Demon Destruction" "Hama no Katana" (破魔のカタナ)	Hansin Republic	April 23, 2005[9]
After the group arriving Hansin Republic (ハンシン共和国, Hanshin Kyōwakoku?) and Syaoran interferes with the gang war chasing the gang led by Kunio away, the other gang retreats when they hear the police about to arrive. Sent by the Dimensional Witch as a favor to care for them, Sorata Arisugawa and Arashi Arisugawa find the group of travelers and take them to the residential apartment building that they own. After some rest and a change of clothes, the three go around town looking for Sakura's feather that Mokona sensed earlier during the battle. Kurogane spots someone who looks like Princess Tomoyo and chases after her alone. Losing sight of the girl, Kurogane meets the gang led by Kunio and they begin to fight; Kurogane emerges as the victor with the help of his own Kudan. Meanwhile, Syaoran, Fai, and Mokona enter a restaurant for lunch where they meet people who share the same appearance and personality of Sakura's brother Toya and his friend Yukito. At the end of the day, everyone returns to Sorata and Arashi's apartment.
4	"Innocent Wandering" "Kegare Naki Hōrō" (汚れなき放浪)	Hansin Republic	April 30, 2005[9]
After the group leave to search for the Sakura's memory fragment once more, Sakura wakes from her sleep and leaves her room to follow a bird. When Arashi realizes that Sakura is gone, she tells the Syaoran, Kurogane, Fai, and Mokona and they begin searching for her. The gang leader Kunio comes across Sakura in town and concocts a scheme to use Sakura to threaten Syaoran to join his gang. However, due to her kindness, he decides to disband his gang and return to an honest life giving his gang's territory to the gang led by Shōgo. The group of travelers find Sakura once more and bring her back to Sorata and Arashi's apartment.
5	"The Battle of the Mage" "Majutsushi no Batoru" (魔術師のバトル)	Hansin Republic	May 7, 2005[9]
Sorata and Arashi suggest that the feather is contained inside someone's Kudan and that such a Kudan would have to be quite powerful to be able to hold Sakura's feather. As the group ponder upon a method to carry out a search for such a Kudan, Shōgo's girlfriend, Primera, kidnaps Mokona and Masayoshi in order to attract more of Shōgo's attention leaving a letter of challenge for Syaoran, Fai, and Kurogane. In spite of being unable to speak to each other as Mokona had been acting as a magical translator for them, they make their way to Hansin Castle. There, Primera offers to return the hostages if they agree to fight with her. Fai meets her challenge revealing his own Kudan that enables him to fly and wins the fight. When Shōgo arrives, Mokona declares that the feather is somewhere nearby. Shōgo challenges Syaoran to a battle to test his own strength.
6	"Unshed Tears" "Nakanai Namida" (泣かないナミダ)	Hansin Republic	May 14, 2005[9]
Syaoran and Shōgo begin their unfinished fight. As a result, Hanshin Castle begins to shake and it becomes dangerous for Masayoshi and Primera standing atop it. When Masayoshi's Kudan saves them, Mokona senses that it holds within itself Sakura's feather. It becomes enraged such that Masayoshi can no longer control it due to the influence of Sakura's feather consumed by the desire to protect its master and begins destroying the city. Syaoran chases after it and removes the feather, returning control of the Kudan to Masayoshi. After saying their farewells, the group head towards a new world.
7	"The Broken Memento" "Kudaketa Katami" (砕けたカタミ)	Koryo Country	May 21, 2005[9]
Arriving in the next world, Koryo Country (ナユタヤ国, Nayutaya Kuni?), Syaoran and the gang get harassed by the Ryanban's son and his minions. Shortly after that, they meet a young girl by the name of Chu'nyan who chases the thugs off. When the son runs home to his father, Syaoran realizes that his source of power is one of Sakura's feathers enclosed in a ball. Due to the weird clothing that Syaoran and company are wearing, Chu'nyan mistakes them for Amen'osa, or secret investigators from the government sent to the many kingdoms to right wrongs, and take them to her house. After a long talk with them, she realizes that they couldn't possibly be Amen'osa, and she tells them about the evil Ryanban of the area and how he murdered her mother. Later on, the Ryanban's son and his thugs burn down a villager's house because he didn't pay taxes. After a fight between them and Syaoran, Chu'nyan's only keepsake from her mother, her magical fan, ends up getting destroyed by the Ryanban's son.
8	"God's Beloved Daughter" "Kami no Manamusume" (神の愛娘)	Koryo Country	May 28, 2005[9]
Fai and Kurogane decide to storm the castle even when Chu'nyan tells them that powerful secret arts protect it. Chu'nyan, Syaoran, and Sakura visit the resistance in town against the Ryanban. Sakura is drawn towards the castle and mysteriously disappears inside. Syaoran goes in after her and there they meet all the townspeople that have been imprisoned and have changed into monsters. Sakura and Syaoran are then back in front of the gates of the castle because of a mysterious presence. They tell the villagers what happened to the others sucked in from the gate. Kurogane and Fai decide not to storm the castle but to think of another method. The villagers decide to fight once more.
9	"Princess of Shadows" "Ayashiki Onna" (妖しきオンナ)	Koryo Country	June 4, 2005[9]
It is revealed that the Ryanban has a secret weapon which is in the form of a mysterious witch, named Kiishimu. Syaoran is still determined in getting into the castle that has Sakura's feather inside. Though he was hurt from the previous battle, he still plans to go inside.
10	"Mirror of Separation" "Wakare no Kagami" (別離のカガミ)	Koryo Country	June 11, 2005[9]
The villagers of Koryo storm the castle as Chu'nyan follows Sakura; meanwhile, Syaoran continues to battle the Ryanban's son and Fai and Kurogane continue to fight Kiishimu. Kurogane unintentionally frees Kiishimu from her imprisonment set by the Ryanban, by breaking the stone on her forehead. It is later on revealed that it was used to control her by the foolish lord. She then kisses Kurograne to say thank you. Chu'nyan learns that her mother's spirit temporarily inhabits Sakura's body and Chu'nyan comes to understand the true meaning of hijutsu. Her mother gives her own hijutsu mirror to Chu'nyan and departs from Sakura's body.
11	"The Chosen Tomorrow" "Erabareta Ashita" (選ばれたアシタ)	Koryo Country	June 18, 2005[10]
The villagers tried to attack the Ryanban's castle and are now under his control. To make matters worse, Syaoran sees that Chu'nyan and Sakura are trapped in a bubble and learns that if he attacks the villagers, the girls will feel the effects tenfold. But his determination gives him an edge in the fight as he finds out that the girls trapped inside the bubble are not the real Sakura and Chu'nyan.
12	"The Warm Smile" "Atatakana Egao" (暖かなエガオ)	Fog Country	June 25, 2005[10]
In the next world, the group found no people and no buildings. All that's there is a huge lake in which Mokona senses a powerful force. Syaoran dives in to take a look. When he resurfaces Sakura catches him up in her strange memory. Syaoran goes back under water, and while he's gone Sakura has a strange encounter with a creature from the lake. The creature asks questions to her, and as she struggles with this answer, she passes out. In her unconscious state she recovers a memory from when she first met Syaoran. Syaoran has a flashback of his own back to when he attended Sakura's birthday party. Since Syaoran has no memories from the time before Fujitaka became his father, Sakura made it so that his and her birthdays would be on the same day. Sakura regains her consciousness and Syaoran takes her to the bottom of the sea to see a spectacular miniature city. This occurrence reminds Syaoran of the time when Sakura showed him the white birds from the top of the castle. Mokona informs everyone that there's no feather in this world and they leave for the next one.
13	"Advocate of Illusions" "Maboroshi no Otogi" (まぼろしのオトギ)	Jade Country	July 2, 2005[10]
The group end up in a new world, Jade Country (ジェイド国, Jeido Kuni?), where there is an old legend story about a golden haired princess who possessed a feather with magical powers and they are convinced that it belongs to Sakura so they go to a forbidden castle with a deep river surrounding it to try find some children that were abducted. While they are in town, they are taking refuge in the house of a kind doctor, Kyle. But while everyone is asleep, Sakura sees the golden haired princess and follows her but then she is suddenly put to sleep. Now Sakura is getting the blame for taking the children and Syaoran is worried that she will never come back alive.
14	"Truth In History" "Shinjitsu no Rekishi" (真実のレキシ)	Jade Country	July 9, 2005[10]
Sakura wakes up after fainting and thinks she sees the Princess. Syaoran and the gang go check with Mr. Grosum if he has one of Sakura's feathers. They search his home to find clues of Sakura’s whereabouts until they're interrupted by Mr. Grosum. Sakura tries to find a way to escape from the room she's in. Meanwhile Syaoran discusses a plan with Doctor Kyle about stalking Mr. Grosum's house. As Sakura escapes, the ghost of the Princess appears to Sakura and tells her a story of a mystical feather came into her possession and how it wards off evil. Syaoran then uncovers the truth and finds out that Dr. Kyle knows where Sakura and the children are.
15	"A Heart that Believes" "Shinjiru Kokoro" (信じるココロ)	Jade Country	July 16, 2005[10]
Sakura tries to escape from the forbidden castle with ghost Princess Emeraude's help. She also brings the children along with her. Meanwhile, Syaoran and all the townspeople want to hear Dr. Kyle's confession. He then confesses that the kidnapping was his doing and he used the children in order to break the feather free. The children escape from the castle but Sakura is still trapped. Dr. Kyle escapes from the townspeople and decides to grab Sakura instead, but suddenly Syaoran comes to rescue her. The castle begins to tremble as the reservoir from the river overflows. While they confront Dr. Kyle, the wall of the castle suddenly breaks and smashes into the doctor. They are freed as they see the castle collapse, and the townspeople thank the group for rescuing their children. At the end of their journey, they realize that they are being watched by someone who is also interested in Sakura's feather.
16	"Strength and Kindness" "Tsuyosa to Yasashisa" (強さと優しさ)	Storm Country	July 23, 2005[10]
The story starts off with a girl being hit with a mysterious beam on her head. Inside the shrine, Keefer goes in a saves her from the Guardian of the shrine. The group enters the world, Storm Country (シュトルム国, Shutorumu Kuni?), in the middle of a tournament in order to see who is the strongest. Syaoran eventually wins the match. But Keefer needs that sacred object that Syaoran won from the tournament. They both fight to see who gets it, ending with Syaoran giving the sacred object to save the girl. This episode is a filler and is not part of the manga's storyline.
17	"Demon Hunters" "Sakura no Kuni no Kafe" (桜の国のカフェ)	Ōto Country	July 30, 2005[10]
The travelers arrive in the land of Ōto Country (桜都国?), lit. country of cherry blossoms, and are greeted by a welcoming party and are advised to register themselves at town hall. They are housed in a former shop, but that night they are attacked by an Oni, which Syaoran defeats albeit getting injured. Syaoran and Kurogane become Oni Hunters whereas Fai becomes the owner of a Café and Sakura becomes the waitress, with assistance from Mokona.
18	"Cat and Dog" "Nyanko to Wanko" (にゃんことワンコ)	Ōto Country	August 20, 2005[10]
After talking to Yūko, Mokona names the Café, calling it The Cat's Eye, a name suggested by Yūko. The group's Ōto aliases are revealed and Kurogane attacks Fai for giving them strange names. Kurogane and Fai find out Syaoran is blind in his right eye. Kurogane and Fai leave for a bar to find out some information about the strange Oni that keeps attacking them, but get attacked on the way back. The insert song "Kaze no Machi he" (風の街へ) was also sung during the fight scene.
19	"The Resolution to Live" "Ikiru Kakugo" (生きるカクゴ)	Ōto Country	August 27, 2005[10]
Kurogane and Fai finish off the Oni but Kurogane ends up losing his sword in the fight and Fai hurts his leg. Sakura and Syaoran meet Ryū-ō and Sōma. After finishing a meal at the Cat's Eye, a strange person who seems to know Syaoran appears along with Oni. Syaoran finds out he can't defeat an Oni above a certain level without a weapon. Kurogane finally realizes that the same people are in different worlds but the way they live and what they do is different. Syaoran asks Kurogane to teach him swordmanship.
20	"The Afternoon Piano" "Gogo no Piano" (午後のピアノ)	Ōto Country	September 3, 2005[10]
Syaoran and Kurogane go to a sword shop. Kurogane buys a longsword named Sōhi (Blue Ice) and Syaoran gets a sword called Hien (Scarlet Flame). After they buy the swords, Kurogane tells Syaoran not to unsheathe the sword yet because he isn't ready to use it yet. Fai buys a piano for The Cat's Eye but he doesn't know how to play it. Kurogane begins training Syaoran on how to counteract him being blind in his right eye by learning how to balance between his left and right side. A strange woman comes into the The Cat's Eye and starts asking Sakura where she's from and why she's here. Sakura goes into a trance and the woman starts playing the piano and Sakura starts singing the insert song "tsubasa". At the end of the episode Sakura is seen inside an egg shaped pod.
21	"The Imp's True Face" "Oni no Sugao" (鬼児のスガオ)	Ōto Country	September 10, 2005[11]
Kurogane tells Syaoran to blindfold himself and walk back to The Cat's Eye and that he can't take the blindfold off until he can recognize presences. While training, Syaoran notices that Oni have the presence of something which isn't alive. Kurogane and Fai leave Sakura at The Cat's Eye and go to talk to the lady that saw the new type of Oni. They find out that the Oni is created for the purpose of hunting. The new Oni seems to have Sakura's feather, and reveals himself to be Seishirō.
22	"The Indelible Memories" "Kesenai Kioku" (消せないキオク)	Ōto Country	September 17, 2005[11]
Syaoran starts remembering about Seishirō and that he was the one who taught Syaoran how to fight. Syaoran and Kurogane go to a tower full of Oni to get information on Seishirō. At the top of the tower they find out that Seishirō is not an Oni and that town hall is planning to eliminate him for interfering. They also find out that the highest level Oni is in the form of a human and can command all other Oni. Seishirō shows up at The Cat's Eye when only Fai and Sakura are there and asks Fai if Kurogane and Syaoran live there.
23	"The Vanishing Life" "Kie yuku Inochi" (消えゆくイノチ)	Ōto Country	September 24, 2005[11]
Seishirō attacks Fai after he asks if Kurogane and Syaoran live there. It is revealed that Seishirō gave his right eye to Yūko to obtain the power to travel between dimensions but unlike Mokona he can only use this power a limited number of times. Fai gets cornered and is defeated. Seishirō uses Sakura's feather and the people in the world start disintegrating like a computer program. When Syaoran and Kurogane get back to The Cat's Eye they find out that Fai was defeated by an Oni and that Sakura may have been taken captive. When Syaoran finds Seishirō and asks him what happened to Fai, he tells him that he killed Fai. Seishirō stabs Syaoran in the chest with a weapon made from Oni. Syaoran starts disappearing but then Sakura comes running out and hugs him and they both disappear.
24	"The Blade of a Desperate Fight" "Shitō no Yaiba" (死闘のヤイバ)	Edonis Country	October 1, 2005[11]
Syaoran wakes up inside an egg shaped pod. He hears a tapping on the glass and sees Fai there, smiling, and pointing to another pod which contains Sakura. Sakura then awakens too, and she and Syaoran get out of their pods and greet each other. Syaoran wonders where they are; the place they are in looks very different from the town. The group meet up with a woman whom Fai tells them can explain everything, and she does so. The world of Ōto is a virtual reality program in Fairy Park which is a popular game for the residents of the Edonis Country (エドニス国, Edonisu Kuni?). Syaoran sees that Kurogane and Mokona are still asleep in their pods. The woman tells Syaoran that someone is interfering with the program. This person is trying to turn the virtual reality into actual reality. Kurogane, Mokona, Ryū-ō and the others appear. Seishirō then also appears and Kurogane fights with him. Before long, the true identity of the strongest Oni is revealed.
25	"The Ultimate Game" "Kyūkyoku no Gēmu" (究極のゲーム)	Edonis Country	October 8, 2005[11]
The fight between the group and the Oni continues, while Seishirō is told the real truth behind everlasting life in the game. Syaoran climbs to the top of the rollercoaster and tells Seishirō that he doesn't think he will be able to beat him in his current state. However, he has decided to get the feather back; so he draws his sword even though he knows he's not quite ready yet. When he draws the sword, it bursts into flames and the fight begins. Seishirō takes off soon after the fight begins, but as he leaves, the Oni are left behind for them to take care of. After finishing them off, Mokona reacts to the power of the item Seishirō used and takes the group to the next world.
26	"The Last Wish" "Saigo no Negai" (最後の願い)	Tsarastora Country	October 15, 2005[11]
Syaoran and the group arrive in the next world, Tsarastora Country (ツァラストラ国, Tsarasutora Kuni?), where they read a letter from the dimensional witch. It says that Kurogane owes Yūko double for the present on Valentine's Day. After Mokona senses a feather, Syaoran passes out and has a flashback. When he wakes he finds himself surrounded by Sakura, Fai, Kurogane and Mokona, who tell him what happened. They then follow the old lady who allowed them to stay in her house, and she shows them the temple of the god they worship. She tells them it once used to be on the ground, but half a year ago it unearthed itself. The god said the first person to reach the top will be granted any wish. Syaoran, Fai, Kurogane, Mokona and Sakura fight their way to the top, and Sakura wishes that all the people who died trying to get to the temple would be brought back to life.

Film

Tsubasa Chronicle the Movie: The Princess of the Country of Birdcages (劇場版 ツバサ·クロニクル 鳥カゴの国の姫君, Gekijōban Tsubasa Kuronikuru Torikago no Kuni no Himegimi^?) premiered in Japanese theaters on August 20, 2005 in conjunction with xxxHolic the Movie: A Midsummer Night's Dream. It was directed by Itsuro Kawasaki and written by both Midori Goto and Junichi Fujisaku with character designs provided by Yoko Kikuchi and music provided by Yuki Kajiura. It features two pieces of theme music. "Aerial" is the opening theme performed by Kinya Kotani and "Amrita" is the ending theme performed by Yui Makino.

In their continuing journey to find the feathers that are the fragments of Sakura's lost memory, Syaoran, Kurogane, Fai, and Sakura move through time and space with Mokona. Here, they visit the "Country of Birdcages," a seemingly peaceful country where people and birds live together, each person having a bird companion. After a boy named Koruri confuses Syaoran and Sakura for "bodyguards" and attacks them, they learn that the king of the country possesses a mysterious power. Princess Tomoyo, Koruri, and the other oppressed citizens, having had their birds taken from them, live in hiding within the forest. In order to take back Sakura's feather, Syaoran and the others stand up against the scheming king.

Season 2

Two pieces of theme music are used for the second season of the anime series. "It's" performed by Kinya Kotani is the opening theme. "A Jet Waiting For Wind" (風待ちジェット, Kazemachi Jetto^?) performed by Maaya Sakamoto is the ending theme.

Tomoyo, owner of the Piffle Princess Company, warns the group that someone is tampering with the Dragonfly Race. The main race begins. Fai is disqualified at the second checkpoint when the rigged Dragon Tube explodes his aircraft. An explosion in the canyons shoots down Ryū-ō's aircraft, and Syaoran intentionally crashes into him in order to save his life.

Syaoran and Ryū-ō are both disqualified. Kurogane throws himself in front of an explosion in order to protect Sakura, and is also eliminated. When Fai and Kurogane question Tomoyo about the sabotage, Tomoyo admits that her company had tampered with the preliminaries because she'd wanted Sakura to win so she could get back her feather. Meanwhile, Syaoran and Ryū-ō discover that Tomoyo's secretary was behind the vicious attacks during the main race. They stop him just when he is about to destroy Sakura's aircraft, allowing her to win the race. At the awards ceremony, the Kyle Rondart the group met in Jade world tries to steal the feather. Mokona stops him, but he manages to warp to another dimension. The group then teleports to the next world.
4(30)	"Sorrowful Miracle" "Kanashii Kiseki" (哀しいキセキ)	Tsarastora Country	May 20, 2006[12]
The group land in a beautiful place named Tsarastora Country (ツァラストラ国, Tsarasutora Kuni?). Sakura tells Syaoran what memory she got from the last feather, while Kurogane and Fai talk about how brave Syaoran is. Sakura asks Mokona to call Yūko for her; she then gives her a hand-made dress as a White Day present. The Dimensional Witch reminds Fai, Kurogane, and Syaoran that they still owe her something too. Mokona senses one of Sakura's feathers, and they find it encased in a horn-shaped rock. Syaoran tries to cut it open; they shortly discover that it is the horn of a dragon which starts to attack them. The group discovers that they have returned to the world where Sakura brought back all the people who died trying to get to the top of the temple. They also find out that the god of the temple said that the people who have been brought back to life will die again on the next new moon. After obtaining the feather, they take it to the shrine to try and keep the people who are disappearing alive. However, the god tells them it is not possible, and Sakura receives another one of her memories.
5(31)	"A Young Man's Resolve" "Shōnen no Ketsui" (少年のケツイ)	Portoria Country[13]	May 27, 2006[12]
The group lands in a new world named Portoria Country (ポルトリア国, Porutoria Kuni?) in the middle of the ocean, where they see a ship. Soon they speak to the captain who says that he is short of men and asks them to help him. Syaoran is introduced to a young boy who looks after the ship's engine, and finds out this is a younger version of his father, Fujitaka. Shortly thereafter, huge winds cause massive waves to pummel the ship, and Syaoran and Fujitaka are thrown overboard. They wash up on a deserted island (called Lagosta Island), seemingly in the middle of nowhere. They find some ruins and Syaoran is able to read what is written. The ancient writing warns them of a long, slender being. Meanwhile, Kurogane, Fai, Mokona and Sakura decide to check the island for Syaoran and Fujitaka, who make it through a dangerous cave to get to the other side (and become visible to the ship). As the rescue boat arrives, a long, slender monster attacks them. Kurogane is able to defeat it with one swipe of his sword. The episode ends with Syaoran realizing that the sea monster was what the ruins warned him about.
6(32)	"A Date with a Wizard" "Majutsushi to Dēto" (魔術師とデート)	Fort City Bit	June 3, 2006[12]
The group arrives in the next world named Fort City Bit (城塞都市ビット, Jōsai Toshi Bitto?) only to find its main technique is magic. They go to a cafe where they meet this world's version of Tōya and Yukito. There they learn that once a year everyone in the town has a dream of one person. That person then becomes ruler of the country, with all their previous memories temporarily erased, for the next year. This year, however, it seems that the new Queen has turned the country into a never ending night. This possesses a problem, because all the magic needs sunlight. The group then plans to storm the castle to find out why the queen won't lift the shield. As their luck goes, they get captured and sent to the dungeon. Fai and Sakura manage to run while Syaoran and Kurogane beat off their attackers. Fai and Sakura reach the top floor and stumble into the room of the Queen. It turns out that this world's Queen is Chī; someone who looks like Fai's mother. Chī and Fai manage to escape, but they are being pursued by the guardians of the ruler: Kotoko and Sumomo, as well as their magic guards.
7(33)	"The Origins of Ashura" "Ashura no Iware" (阿修羅のイワレ)	Shara Country	June 10, 2006[12]
They arrived in Shara Country (紗羅ノ国, Shara no Kuni?), to their surprise, they were separated. Syaoran, Sakura and Mokona had being transported into a girl's troupe, while Fai and Kurogane being transported into a shrine which only being run by men. The girl's troupe, called the Suzuran troupe, asks Syaoran and the others to join them. While at the shrine, called the Soseki shrine, Fai and Kurogane had being asked for assistance by the leader of the shrine to protect the shrine. Then they told both of the respective groups about the tale of Ashura, the goddess, and Yasha, the god, when they realized the unique statues of Ashura and Yasha. They realize that there is something else to do with the leaders of both shrines.
8(34)	"Endless War" "Owarinaki Ikusa" (終わりなきイクサ)	Shara Country	June 17, 2006[12]
After witnessing the secret meeting of the two leaders, Sakura says that she feels sorry about their situation and they head to the shrine of Ashura to pray for their happiness. But before they reach the temple however, an earthquake starts up and the whole country shakes. Outside the shrine Sakura glows and opens the door to reveal the Ashura statue surrounded by fire, where Fai and Kurogane are, the Yasha statue is surrounded by ice. As the sky cracks to open into another world, caused by Mokona, the Suzuran troupe arrive and bend over the statue hoping that the earthquake is not Ashura's fault. Her tears fall onto the statue and it flashes and both statues clear the confusion above their heads so that the other world can be seen clearly. Mokona then transfers them into that world, but they are still separate. Sakura and Syaoran end up on a battlefield with a being who is identical to the statue and who bears the same name. She is fighting with Yasha who is accompanied by Fai and Kurogane.
9(35)	"Two Memories" "Futatsu no Kioku" (ふたつのキオク)	Shura Country	June 24, 2006[12]
The group travels to another world named Shura Country (修羅ノ国, Shura no Kuni?). They appear in the middle of a battle. The opposing forces seem to only be allowed on the moon where the battle takes place until the moon is at its zenith. Ashura, the king of one of the sides invites Syaoran and Sakura to her castle. Ashura explains that they are fighting over the moon castle because the one who claims it will have their desires granted. Sakura sleeps and Syaoran takes part in another battle where he encounters Fai and Kurogane. After the battle, Sakura kisses Syaoran's painful eye.
10(36)	"Love that Transcends Time" "Toki o Koeru Omoi" (時をこえるオモイ)	Shura and Shara Country	July 1, 2006[12]
On the moon castle Ashura kills Yasha, he fades away and one of Sakura's feathers is left. Sakura joins him on the castle and Ashura explains to them. Yasha had died a long time ago, the feather created an illusion to replace him. When Ashura and Yasha were fighting, Ashura somehow managed to wound him in his eye even though they were equal. This was because Yasha was ill. One day he came to Shura castle. It was impossible to meet him anywhere but on the moon castle. It was his soul, Yasha had died. He came to say goodbye to Ashura before leaving for the next world. Then the feather came to replace him with a mirage. This was painful for Ashura to see him even though he had passed away. Ashura returns the feather to Syaoran. She stands up and plunges her sword into the ground to claim the moon castle to grant her wish. The castle simply begins to crumble because her true wish, to have Yasha brought back can never be fulfilled as there is no way to revive the dead. Syaoran and company make it back but Ashura wishes to stay behind. She makes one last wish to the Time-space witch. To have her and Yasha as the gods of the next world, to prove that not even gods can do everything. Syaoran asks the Ashura clan to bury the two together and not apart as he and the others are taken back to Shara. It turns out Fai and Kurogane were pretending to be ones from another world so Syaoran would fight Kurogane to improve his sword skills. They find Shara very different as the two sides are no longer opposing each other, The two statues are together and a wedding is taking place.
11(37)	"Mokona the Artist" "Oekaki Mokona" (おえかきモコナ)	Cartoon World	July 8, 2006[14]
Syaoran and the others arrive in a world where everyone is super deformed; They'd unknowingly teleported to the inside of an enchanted drawing created by an artist using one of Sakura's feathers. Mokona, the only "normal-looking" one, is teleported outside of the picture, and must use the power of the feather pen to draw a story where everyone escapes to the real world. Mayhem ensues in the drawing-world as Mokona's overactive imagination gets the best of her.
12(38)	"Dangerous Road" "Kiken na Rōdo" (危険なロード)	Principality of Darōga	July 15, 2006[14]
The group arrives in the next world, the Principality of Darōga (ダローガ公国, Darōga Kōkoku?), and they suggest that Mokona should give the feather she is holding on to Sakura. However, when Sakura is about to receive the feather, it is blown in the wind, and gets caught on a passing truck. The group then hitches a ride on a tour bus filled with random travelers, whom they all recognize. Each passenger has their own agenda, but all our group wants to do is catch up to the truck ahead of them. At night the bus stops, but a group of gangsters on motorbikes overtake the bus, and threaten to hurt the passengers. Kurogane and Syaoran decide to end their rampage.
13(39)	"Parting of Beginnings" "Hajimari no Wakare" (始まりのワカレ)	Principality of Darōga	July 22, 2006[14]
Kurogane holds back the motorbike gangsters, while Syaoran takes one of the motorbikes. He struggles to get the feather, but the truck continues to accelerate. Meanwhile, Sakura and the others decided to help them by transforming the bus into a war machine. After much trouble, they defeat the gangsters. Syaoran gets the feather when the truck is stopped at the city. The old man on the bus says that everything that has a beginning must have an end. The bus passengers and Syaoran's group realize that they were destined to be met. The passengers wave goodbye at Syaoran and the others as they transport into another world.

The group lands in Rekord Country (レコルト国, Rekoruto Kuni?), where Syaoran finds a book with Kurogane's past written in it. The book magically shows him visions of Kurogane's childhood. It reveals that Kurogane was the son of a great provincial lord and a priestess in ancient Japan. After his father died in a demon attack and his sickly mother was subsequently killed by the same person responsible for scattering Sakura's feathers, Princess Tomoyo took Kurogane under her care and nursed him back to health.

The group finds out that the book Syaoran read is a copy of the original Book of Memories. The cover looks like one of Sakura's feathers. The librarians won't let the gang near the book though. So they decide to take the feather in the original another way. They end up in what is believed to be the Country of Clow.
16(42)	"Faraway Homesickness" "Bōkyō no Kanata" (望郷のカナタ)	Rekord Country	August 26, 2006[14]
They search the kingdom for any living things that appear. They realized it is just one of Sakura's memories that being visualized by the power of the feather. Syaoran decided to go into the ruins excavation that he had his research on. He found out the wing symbol which is a door that once had taken Sakura's feather may have a secret. Syaoran and Kurogane decided to go deep behind the door and encountered the guardian of the book. While they battling the guardian, Syaoran's right eye makes him go berserk and Syaoran defeats the guardian. He takes the feather out from the book. Kurogane realized there is something wrong is happening to Syaoran. When they come up again, Syaoran gives the feather to Sakura. This triggers the library alarm and they decided to flee from there. Fai uses his 'magic' by whistling, creating the magic barrier in order to protect them and enabling Mokona to transport them into another world. To their surprise, they ended up in Rekord Country. This anime episode is different from the manga which actually this event leads to Tokyo Arc (Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations).
17(43)	"The Fifth Oath" "Itsutsume no Chikai" (五つ目のチカイ)	Rekord Country	September 2, 2006[14]
Syaoran and the others are trying to find the way out from the librarian guards. They decided to hide in the library as no one will expect them to be there. But their expectation was wrong because their location can be found by sensing the feathers' power. Kurogane wants to use the Book of Memories on Syaoran to discover his past, but through a mix-up, Syaoran ends up seeing more of Kurogane's past: as he vowed his fifth oath to Princess Tomoyo when she gave the Ginryū to him. The oath is to protect the person that is precious to him no matter what. Kurogane keeps that oath and, together with Syaoran and Fai, they defeat the guard. In the end, the Rekord Country ruler thanks them for getting rid of the feather and they apologize for causing so much trouble. Syaoran and the others transport into another world after saying goodbye to the people of Rekord Country. This episode and the rest of the Season 2 episodes do not happen in the manga.

Shortly after arriving on a new world Syaoran and the gang go to sleep for the night. When they wake up they end up with a small problem. Everyone except Mokona is only an inch tall. When they are almost stepped on by Mokona, Kero, the guardian deity of the world saves them. Kero explains that a while back a feather fell from the sky and landed on a mountain nearby and that this feather makes all humans in the world tiny. Since Syaoran and the gang are too small to make a journey up the mountain, Kero and Mokona must travel up the mountain and retrieve Sakura's feather.

The group arrives back in Koryo Country (ナユタヤ国, Nayutaya Kuni?), where they meet Chu'nyan again. To their surprise, the country has yet another new threat. Syaoran investigates this matter and discovers that people are turning to stone by some magic. The culprits appear to be Kiishimu's people. The people of Koryo Country shun Chu'nyan because she defends Kiishimu. In order to clear her name, Chu'nyan joins Syaoran and the others to investigate the culprits behind this incident.
20(46)	"The Secret of Hijutsu" "Hijutsu no Gokui" (秘術のゴクイ)	Kiishimu Country	September 23, 2006[14]
Kīshim tells them that besides Koryo Country, there is another hidden country that is parallel to Koryo known as Kiishimu Country (キィシムの国, Kīshimu no Kuni?). The gate to go to the opposite world is at the river below the bridge, the same place where Sakura was possessed by Chu'nyan's mother. Kiishimu said that gate is the best because it has so many auras of hijutsu surrounded the area. When they are transported into Kiishimu Country, they realize the people of Kiishimu are being controlled by some device. They battling the guards and uncover the real culprit which is son of the Ryanban which rule Koryo Country before, possessing the power of the feather. Syaoran defeat him and takes the feather from his hand. He is then punished by Kiishimu. Kiishimu claims her rightful place as the ruler of Kiishimu Country. She told Chu'nyan that she had a great battle with her mother on the top of the bridge and admired Chu'nyan's mother for her great skill and heart of hijutsu. She also told Chu'nyan that the greatest magic of all is love. Chu'nyan promised herself to protect her country with her hijutsu she has and always help people that needed both on Koryo Country and Kiishimu Country. Chu'nyan thanks them again for their help and the group begins to transport into another world.
21(47)	"Sakura Works" "Hataraku Sakura" (はたらくサクラ)	Ragtime World	September 30, 2006[15]
The group lands in the next world, Ragtime World (ラグタイムワールド, Ragutaimu Wārudo?), and find that Sakura's feather is being sold at a shop as a brooch. Since the group has no money, they must find jobs in order to earn the 100,000 Yules (Ragtime World's currency) to pay for it and the owner reserves the feather for the group for 3 days. They find however, that jobs are scarce in this city due to a recession. Syaoran, Fai and Kurogane go out to find a job but have no luck. Sakura and Mokona venture out on their own and Sakura manages to find a job working at a restaurant shack called The King's Bistro since she has experience from The Cat's Eye. However the power suddenly failed and the shop had to let Sakura go. She moves on to a transport company without much success. Finally, she gets a job as a waitress in a shady bar where the clientele are very friendly. The bar however, is under threat from a gang who want to take it over. As the gang attack, Syaoran, Fai and Kurogane defeat them as they have been hired as special guards by the owner. Together the group raised enough money to buy the feather for Sakura.

Syaoran and the others arrived in another world named Tao Country ruled by King Chaos. Everyone in this kingdom had magical power, called senriki, which enables them to fly and do wondrous things. Their arrival had been expected by King Chaos and they were invited to his castle. They noticed King Chaos had a fan made from Sakura's feather. King Chaos told them that this feather is from the mystical bird that lives far in the corner of the kingdom. Syaoran decided to search the mystical bird along with his companions, Fai and Kurogane.

Sakura had a dream that show her childhood in Clow Kingdom. Suddenly, she was attacked by giant worm. Luckily, she was rescued by a man in a cloak. The man shows his face and introduces himself as Chaos. Sakura asks him where he lives or where he came from. Chaos told her that he lives in another kingdom and has power to cross dimensions. Sakura asks him to convince her brother to let her travel when she is older. Chaos tells her that when she is allowed to travel he will be her companion and will protect her with his life. Syaoran, Kurogane, and Fai are fighting their old memories when Chaos decides he will beat all three of them to show Sakura how weak they are compared to him.
24(50)	"Determined Friends" "Ketsui no Nakama" (決意のナカマ)	Tao Country	October 21, 2006[15]
After Syaoran, Kurogane, and Fai lose to Chaos, he uses one of his powers to make an unwilling Sakura go with him. But as he is about to go to another world, Sakura starts to cry and he says it is useless to travel with her until she changes her heart. While knocked out, Syaoran has a dream about his other self. He then wakes up and tells Kurogane and Fai that he thinks Sakura would be better to travelling with Chaos instead. Fai tells Syaoran that maybe for once he should try being selfish instead of doing what he thinks is best for Sakura. Kurogane calls Yūko and asks her to lend him Ginryū but she says it is not a request she can complete so instead he gives Syaoran his sword and Fai gives Syaoran a magic potion to heal his wounds. Mokona kisses everyone but Syaoran and tells him that he will get his kiss when he brings back Sakura.
25(51)	"A Frozen Spirit" "Itetsuku Mitama" (凍てつくミタマ)	Tao Country	October 28, 2006[15]
Syaoran goes and trains with Kurogane. Fai and Mokona break into the castle to see Sakura. But when they get there, they see the feathers that she was given come back out of her body, black, not white feathers. Mokona tells Sakura and Fai the feathers are fake and Sakura scolds Chaos for trying to control her with fake memories. Chaos sends a challenge to Syaoran. Sakura asks Mokona to tell Syaoran that he doesn't have to worry about her, so not to overexert himself. Syaoran goes to the castle to fight Chaos, but after Syaoran throws Chaos' lightning attack back at him, Chaos freezes Sakura's body and soul. Chaos then transforms into that of a giant bird.
26(52)	"Wings Toward Tomorrow" "Asu e no Tsubasa" (明日へのツバサ)	Tao Country	November 4, 2006[15]
The battle between Syaoran and the Chaos-bird begins just when Fei Wong Reed tries to take Syaoran over with his other self. Sakura is unfrozen and Syaoran's other self closes his eye. Syaoran is given his fixed sword back, and he then combines both his and Kurogane's swords into a larger sword and defeats Chaos. Chaos turns into a bunch of Sakura's feathers and reveals he was created from them long ago. Mokona tells them there are still tons more feathers out there.

Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations

Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations, stylized as Tsubasa TOKYO REVELATIONS, is a three episode OVA series that features two pieces of theme music. "Synchronicity" performed by Yui Makino is the opening theme. "Last Fruit" (さいごの果実, Saigo no Kajitsu^?) performed by Maaya Sakamoto is the ending theme. It was translated into English by FUNimation Entertainment.

Kurogane speaks to Fai about his past, and then later the group runs into Fūma and his group. The Syaoran being held captive by Fei Wong Reed awakens.
2	"The Boy's Right Eye" "Shōnen no Migime" (少年の右目)	Tokyo	January 17, 2008
It is revealed that the Syaoran that has been collecting the feathers so far is a clone and that the real Syaoran was the one trapped by Fei Wang Reed. The story continues as the awakened Syaoran travels towards his clone. The seal on the "heart" in the clone's right eye is broken, and Fai tries to restore it with his magic, but fails. Without the heart anymore the clone Syaoran's instincts (reasons why he was created) kick in, making him forget his own developing heart. Fai's left eye is eaten by the clone and battle breaks out between the real Syaoran and the clone. As the real Syaoran is about to strike the Clone, Sakura begs them to stop and because of this, the Clone stabs Syaoran, obtains the feather and gives it to Sakura. The Clone then leaves through a portal opened by his creator, Fei Wong Reed, ignoring Sakura's desperate pleas for him to stay. Later, Subaru, Kamui’s twin, wakes up from his coma.
3	"The Dream that the Princess Saw" "Himegimi no Mita Yume" (姫君の視た夢)	Tokyo	March 17, 2008
After the Clone left, the water has drained from the Municipal building and Fai is dying due to the loss of his eye that the clone ate. Subaru wishes to have the water restored, while Kurogane wishes to save Fai's life. Fai is fed with vampire blood and becomes a vampire, thus saving his life, and the water is restored. The price of the water, however, is that Sakura must seek out a treasure somewhere in Tokyo. In the process of searching, Sakura is injured while battling her way out. Her left eye is injured and left arm wrenched out, mirroring the injuries Syaoran had suffered. Later, she is saved on her way back by a mysterious girl (Sakura Kinomoto) and makes it back. The people of Tokyo Tower give their feather to the people of the building in exchange for letting them all live in the building. Yūko reveals that Fei Wong Reed is behind Sakura's lost feathers and their journey across the dimensions, informing them that he needs Sakura to have the memories of many dimensions imprinted upon her body. Sakura decides to find clone Syaoran, together with the others who, for their own personal reasons, start to travel into another dimension again, leaving the last feather behind to ward the water and the building to protect the people of Tokyo.

Tsubasa Shunraiki

Tsubasa Shunraiki (ツバサ春雷記, Tsubasa Shunraiki^?) is a two episode OVA series that features two pieces of theme music. "Sonic Boom" performed by Maaya Sakamoto is the opening theme. "Kioku no Mori" (記憶の森^?) performed by FictionJunction Yuuka is the ending theme.

Princess Tomoyo tells Kurogane that he has begun to understand the meaning of true strength. The hunter Fuuma arrives with an artificial arm for Kurogane from Yūko, paid for by Fai's remaining magic and Tomoyo's dreamseeing ability. Fellow hunter Seishirō arrives in search of the vampire twins Kamui and Subaru. Syaoran attacks Seishiro to reacquire the feather of Sakura's he was seen with in the Ōto arc. Syaoran seizes the feather and is transported into the world of dreams, where he meets Sakura, Watanuki Kimihiro, and the clone Syaoran, whom he prepares to fight.

The episode continues where the previous part left off, with the Clone Syaoran entering the Dream World. Watanuki is then transported away as the battle between the two Syaorans begins. The Clone gains the upper hand, and manages to knock the original Syaoran out. When Sakura attempts to protect him, the Clone stabs her but finds himself unable to kill her. He teleports her out of the way before taking the feather, but Syaoran awakens and stops the Clone as they reappear in Nihon. The two Syaorans attempt to take the feather and kill each other, but Sakura appears in the way and is impaled on Hien. She declares that she too is a Clone, and that the true Sakura is waiting for Syaoran, before dissolving into Sakura petals. Dr. Kyle appears and takes Sakura's soulless body to Fei Wang, and the Clone vanishes in anguish. They learn from Yuko that Fei Wang is in Clow Country, and that Watanuki, Syaoran's other self, paid for this information with his memories. The group then prepares to depart for Clow Country.

The adaptations were originally released in Japan across twenty Region 2 DVDs between 2005 and 2009 by Bandai Visual. The anime series Tsubasa Chronicle was released across fourteen DVDs between August 26, 2005 and February 23, 2007. Shochiku released the anime film Tsubasa the Movie: The Princess of the Country of Birdcages in one DVD on February 25, 2006. The first OVA series Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations was released across three DVDs bundled with the limited versions of volumes 21, 22 and 23 of the manga released between November 16, 2007 and March 17, 2008.^[4] The second OVA series Tsubasa Shunraiki was released across two DVDs bundled with the limited versions of the volume 26 and 27 of the manga released on March 17, 2009 and May 15, 2009 respectively.^[5]

Funimation Entertainment released the series in both North America and the United Kingdom. In North America, Funimation released the two seasons of the anime series across twelve Region 1 DVD compilations between May 22, 2007 and March 17, 2009. Funimation released the DVDs in two collections each containing six of the DVDs together in a boxset on November 11, 2008 and December 29, 2009. Funimation also released the anime film alongside its sister series' corresponding film xxxHolic the Movie: A Midsummer Night's Dream as a double feature DVD on February 19, 2008. In the United Kingdom, Funimation released the first season of the anime across six Region 2 DVD compilations through Revelation Films between September 17, 2007 and March 16, 2009. Funimation released those six DVDs in a single boxset on March 16, 2009. In Australia and New Zealand, Madman Entertainment released the two seasons of the anime across twelve Region 4 DVD compilations between September 12, 2007 and June 24, 2009. Madman released the DVDs in two collections each containing six of the DVDs together in a boxset on November 12, 2008 and December 16, 2009.
