Desh Bandhu Gupta is an honorary Doctor of science (D.Sc.) with a master’s degree in Chemistry. In his early career, he was an Associate Professor at BITS, Pilani, Rajasthan (Birla Institute of Technology and Science).[2]
He borrowed wife's savings to buy a tiny vitamin company; Lupin Ltd. in 1968. Lupin Ltd. is the world's largest maker of tuberculosis drugs and among India's top five pharmaceutical firms.[3]
