Department of Persian is division in the Arts Area at University of Karachi, Pakistan, is one of the unique and oldest department in Pakistan. It was introduced to promote the Persian Language and Persian Literature in Pakistan.[1]

History

Department of Persian at University of Karachi was established in 1985 founded by Professor Dr. Ghulam Sarwar who was first Chairman of department. It was established in order to enhance facilities for advanced studies and research in the fields of Persian language and literature with emphasis on the literature produced in the Iran and Pakistan during the past nine centuries and to promote Persian language and literature of Iran among youth of Pakistan. [2]
