Tour pre-history
In 1993, because of the constant disagreement, musical differences, fights and tensions between vocalist Ian Gillan and guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, Blackmore left the band day before the Japan Tour. Deep Purple hired Joe Satriani as the temporal replacement for Ritchie, to play the remaining gigs. After the tour, Joe continued his solo career and Purples asked Steve Morse to join the band. As Ritchie was Purples founding member and very popular in fans, other members didn't know how will new guitarist work for the audience. So they decided to held a small secret warm-up tour, in order to see the audience reactions during the live. Steve fit the band quite well and audience responded. Thus, Purples asked Steve to stay in the band.[1][2]
