Chocolate ice cream is a flavor of ice cream. It is the second most common flavor of ice cream, after vanilla.[1] The flavor has been in existence for well over a hundred years, and has been popular in the United States since the late 19th century. Chocolate ice cream is made by blending in cocoa powder in along with the eggs, cream, vanilla and sugar used to make ice cream. Chocolate ice cream is used in the creation of other flavors, such as rocky road. Other flavors of ice cream contain chocolate chips mixed in with the ice cream (for example, Chocolate Chocolate Chip ice cream, Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream made with mint ice cream, or plain Chocolate Chip ice cream made with vanilla ice cream).
