Rigor ICD-10 R50.0 ICD-9 780.64 MeSH D023341 For the New Zealand rock band, see The Chills.Rigor is a shaking occurring during a high fever. It occurs because cytokines and prostaglandins are released as part of an immune response and increase the set point for body temperature in the hypothalamus.

Causes
Rigors are commonly caused by:
- Influenza
- Tonsillitis

- Biliary sepsis (part of Charcot's triad 2)
