Eastern Iowa Community College District

The Eastern Iowa Community College District (EICCD) includes three community colleges stretched along the Mississippi River in the U.S. state of Iowa. They are:
* Clinton Community College in Clinton
* Scott Community College in Bettendorf, Scott County
* Muscatine Community College in Muscatine

The district consists of the Iowa counties of Clinton, Jackson, Muscatine, and Scott, and parts of Cedar and Louisa.

EICCD is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. HLC accreditation means the district’s programs meet or exceed the standards for academic excellence set for every public and private college in a 19-state region. The colleges are approved by the Iowa Department of Education and the Board of Regents. Individual programs are accredited by associations within their respective fields.

The EICCD administrative offices are located at 306 West River Drive, Davenport, , IA, 52801, 563-336-3300 or 800-462-3255.

Technology Centers

In addition to its main campuses, EICCD delivers classes through five technology centers:

The Graphic Arts Technology Center in Clinton offers programs in graphic arts, web design, computer aided design/drafting and mechatronics.

The Blong Technology Center (BTC) and the newly-opened Midwest Center for Safety and Rescue Training (MCSRT), both located near Interstate 80 in Davenport. The BTC offers specialized manufacturing technology programs and the MCSRT provides training for rescue and fire training, specializing in water rescue.

The Advanced Technology Environmental Education Center located on the Scott Community College campus, a national center that promotes and supports environmental technology education to address the needs of the national and global workforce

The Muscatine Industrial Technology Center on the Muscatine Community College campus also provides specialized manufacturing-related training.

Educational Programs

EICCD’s three colleges offer both college transfer and career technology programs. More than 7,000 students are enrolled in the colleges each semester. The colleges also offer an online Associate in Arts Degree program in cooperation with the Iowa Community College Online Consortium.

As a comprehensive community college, EICCD’s programs stretch beyond traditional college classes. The district offers a wide range of worker training and re-training programs through its Business and Industry Center. These classes are delivered on both a credit and non-credit basis. In addition, area residents have the opportunity to take advantage of Continuing Education classes that allow them to pursue a particular interest or hobby. More than 30,000 students will complete Business and Industry Center and Continuing Education classes each year.

History

EICCD was established in 1965 by the Iowa General Assembly as one of 15 community college merged areas. The move combined Clinton Junior College, Muscatine Junior College and the vocational-technical programs of the Davenport schools.

In 1979 the District acquired Palmer Junior College to make Scott Community College a comprehensive institution.
