Cedar Rapids metropolitan area

The Cedar Rapids Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of three counties in Iowa, anchored by the city of Cedar Rapids. As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 237,230 (though a July 1, 2007 estimate placed the population at 252,784). As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 237,230 people, 94,059 households, and 62,704 families residing within the MSA. The racial makeup of the MSA was 94.66% White, 2.25% African American, 0.22% Native American, 1.15% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.40% from other races, and 1.28% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.30% of the population.

The median income for a household in the MSA was $42,027, and the median income for a family was $50,155. Males had a median income of $34,869 versus $24,152 for females. The per capita income for the MSA was $19,895.
