History
The Prescott Forest Reserve was established by the
General Land Office on May 10, 1898. It was transferred to the U.S. Forest Service in 1906 and became a National Forest on March 4, 1907. On July 1, 1908 it absorbedVerde National Forest , and on October 22, 1934 it absorbedTusayan National Forest .
