Messingham has a population of over about 4,000 people.

Geography
Sites of interest include a Methodist church, on July 24th 1772 John Wesley was known to preach in Messingham, possibly at the site of the Green Tree public house. Located nearby on the B1400 is a nature reserve. Messingham is on the A159 directly south of Scunthorpe, one mile south of the M180, at the junction with the B1400. The Sand Quarry is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Lincolnshire is one mile to the south, as is Scotter along the A159.
History
Messingham has a history of sheep farming. The local steel works in Scunthorpe (Corus) is known to have many of its employees living in Messingham. Village pubs are the Horn Inn, Green Tree Inn and Crown Inn on High Street and the Bird in the Barley on Northfield Road (A159). The parish church is dedicated to Holy Trinity.

Scunthorpe offers work for people who live in Messingham. Messingham Primary School, Frederick Gough School, Queen Elizabeth High School and Huntcliff offer education. Grange Park Golf Club is also on the outskirts.
