He competed at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, where he received a gold medal in 100 m butterfly, and a gold medal in 4×100 m medley relay.[1]

Matt Vogel set one world record during his career, in 4×100 m medley relay.
Matt is currently the head coach of Fort Wayne Aquatics in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was formerly the head coach of the Canoe City Swim Club in Old Town, Maine.
Awards
- 1996: inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.[2][3]
