Designated Other is a label applied to a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Northern Ireland who identifies as neither as a Nationalist nor a Unionist. The designation is not necessarily one of abstract political beliefs, but rather indicates how the MLA designates themselves in accordance with standing orders of the Northern Ireland Assembly as set out in the Northern Ireland Act 1998.
The Designated Other MLAs as a group currently refer to themselves as "United Community MLAs." [1]
