The first tenant to arrive at the Salt Lake City Intermodal Hub was the Amtrak Station, which was moved to a temporary "shack" at the site in
1999 . [ [http://utahrails.net/utahrails/amtrak-in-ut.php Amtrak in Utah ] ] City authorities began planning an intermodal passenger "hub" and onJuly 5 ,2005 , the Salt Lake City Intermodal Hub was dedicated. By the end of July, Salt Lake City Greyhound Terminal had moved into a building at the Hub. Soon thereafter theUtah Transit Authority began bus service to the Hub. OnApril 26 ,2008 , the Utah Transit Authority beganFrontRunner commuter rail service and TRAXlight rail service to the Hub.Future plans for the Hub include constructing a permanent Amtrak station, a possible parking garage, and a retail component. [ [http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/1,1249,600146091,00.html Deseret News | Intermodal hub is ready for prime time ] ] . As the Utah Transit Authority continues to expand its services, passenger traffic at the Hub will increase. Subsequently the role that the Hub plays in the life of Salt Lake City will grow.
