Phantom 105.2 websiteDerek Byrne (born 28 May 1981) is a radio presenter on Dublin's alternative station Phantom 105.2. He hails from Rush, County Dublin. He presents The Lounge, a three hour general music show on Sunday nights from 9pm, and was the presenter of The Album Archive, a one hour specialist show that aired on Sunday nights from midnight.[1] Derek also works as a technical producer on The Kiosk, Phantom's arts and culture show, which airs every Saturday morning at 11am. He also presents the Saturday lunch show from 12pm until 2.30pm. He regularly fills in on various other shows on Phantom, most notably Key Cuts (Monday through Thursday at 8pm).
The Album Archive two hour special on U2's 'Joshua Tree' was nominated for the Music Special award at the 2008 PPI Radio Awards, on October 10, 2008. It was awarded the silver prize with gold going to BBC Radio Ulster.[2]

Radio history
Derek's first radio experience was on Limerick College radio Wired Fm back in 2000. He presented 'Catch-22', an alternative rock music show, on a weekly basis for three years.[3] From there he moved to Ballyfermot College of Further Education in Dublin and undertook the media and radio course in 2003. He graduated in 2006 with an honours degree in Media Management.
Derek joined Phantom 105.2 on its full-time launch in October 2006.
The Lounge
The Lounge is a three hour general music and request show that airs on Sunday nights from 9pm, on Phantom 105.2. The music is broken up between current Phantom play-list and listener requests. The show often features live music along with remixes and mash-ups of alternative rock and dance artists. The last hour of the show is dedicated to slower Phantom music and is called The Trip To Kip.
The Album Archive
The Album Archive aired on Sunday night/Monday morning on Phantom 105.2 for one hour. Each week one album was covered in depth, looking at its recording history, release and place in music history. Music on the show will ranged from the albums singles and b-sides to album out-takes and live recordings.[4] Albums covered on the show include:.[5]
