State Route 7 is a state highway in the U.S. state of California, running from the U.S.-Mexico border east of Calexico north to its terminus at SR 115, where Orchard Road continues the route north towards Holtville. The full route is part of the California Freeway and Expressway System, and is built to expressway standards.

Route description

State Route 7 begins at the Calexico East Border Station and is an expressway for its entire length. Just north of the border, SR 7 merges with commercial truck traffic that has gone through the commercial border crossing on Carr Road. From here to Interstate 8, SR 7 is an expressway. After Interstate 8, SR 7 has an at-grade intersection. At its northern end, SR 7 turns into County Route S32 (Orchard Road) as it intersects with State Route 115. History

Route 7 was added to the state highway system in 1990, [cite CAstat|year=1990|ch=1187|p=4964] and to the Freeway and Expressway System in 1998. [cite CAstat|year=1998|ch=877] The segment from the Mexican border to State Route 98 was completed in March 1996 at expressway standards; however, the segment from SR 98 to Interstate 8 was not completed until 2005.
