- Richard V. Gotti
.
Richard V. Gotti (born 1942) to John Gotti, Sr. and Fannie along with
John Gotti , Gene, Peter and Vincent Gotti is a member of theGambino crime family . His grasp of the criminal arts was said to be very shaky. He worked as a groundskeeper atYankee Stadium . In one of his more inept episodes, he and a confederate attempted to hold up a high stakes poker game in a Manhattan hotel room. Brandishing sawed-off shotguns, they demanded that the players turn over their money. Hardly bothering to look up from their cards, the players told them to go to hell. Flustered, Richard did not know what to do at that point, whereupon the players began throwing poker chips at the robbers, finally chasing them down a hallway. At his brother John Gotti's urging, Richard subsequently was given a job as general manager of the Our Friends Social Club, where the majority of its elderly members, a few of them connected with the La Cosa Nostra considered him a "nice Italian boy." He became an associate in the Gambino family in 1962, became amade man in 1988, and in 1999, promoted tocaporegime . In 2003, Richard and Peter were convicted of extortion, with Richard receiving a 16-year prison sentence. He was released on August 12, 2005.In February 2008, Richard V. Gotti and his son were named in the
Operation Old Bridge indictments.Further reading
