Demographics

In the 2001 census, Taldangra community development bloc had a total population of 128,748 of which 65,679 were males and 63,069 were females. Decadal growth for the period 1991-2001 was 15.39% for Taldangra, against 13.79% in Bankura district. Decadal growth in West Bengal was 17.84%. Amiya Patra of CPI(M) defeated Phani Bhusan Singh Babu of INC in 1991 and Amit Chatterjee of INC in 1987.
