History
Cableview Services Sdn Bhd or Mega TV was incorporated on 18 October 1994 with a consortium of Sistem Televisyen Malaysia Bhd (TV3), the Minister of Finance Incorporated, Eurocrest Sdn Bhd, Ibex TV (M) Sdn Bhd and Sri Utara Sdn Bhd.
Cable-based transmissions began on 1 November 1995 through a microwave-based broadcast system, followed by the first subscriptions.
Faced with stiff competition from the Astro satellite television network, combined with the failures to expand its content, Mega TV was forced to cease broadcasting in 2001, making satellite television as the only subscription-based service in Malaysia up until 2005, when the networking infrastructure of Malaysia has stabilized enough to allow for mostly interruption-free IPTV broadcasting.
