Hemignathus " that was found throughout parts of theHawaii an island ofKauai . It was common in the 1800s. It was an insect eater, picking them out from the bark. The males were a yellowish birds with brown wings, while the females were greyish brown with a yellow throat streak. It was affected the loss of its lowland forests to the slash and burn farming methods. By 1889, this bird was very rare, however, it was still found in small flocks in the higher forests. It was believed to exist in the 1890s. It was then rediscovered and seen untilHurricane Inki arrived, and none have been seen after 1996.References
