The school is part of the Peel District School Board, is named after the street it's located on, and opened in 1971.[1] The school participates in the Peel Community Partners' "Breakfast for Kids" program,[2] participated in the first three A World in Motion challenges,[3] and is the only Canadian school participating in Orion's Quest Mission 3.[4][5] Cathy Morrison, a teacher at Darcel, received the Toronto Raptors Community MVP Award for the month of January 2008.[6]
