public high school located in Brampton,Ontario ,Canada . Brampton Centennial Secondary School is also commonly known as BCSS. It was the scene of theCentennial Secondary School shooting in 1975. In 1888, the school was opened as 'Brampton High School' with an annual budget of $868.25. The school building was burned down and was rebuilt in 1917. Brampton High School opened in 1852 with 12 students. The first principal was Mr. A. Thompson. Pictures of all three school buildings are displayed in the foyer. Brampton Centennial Secondary School was built 1967 - Canada's Centennial - replacing Brampton High School. Many of the current student awards began at Brampton High School, and the school has many reminders of its heritage. Brampton Centennial Secondary School currently has approximately 1800 students, over 100 staff, and many support staff. In 2000 a new addition was added to the front of the school to accommodate the additional student population.Athletics
Brampton Centennial boasts excellent athletics programs which are collectively known by students as "Buckland." The schools sports programs include basketball, tennis, golf, curling, swimming, track and field, volleyball, wrestling, hockey, ski & snowboard, archery, baseball, slo-pitch, cricket, badminton, lacrosse, rugby and soccer.
Brampton Centennial holds the record for the most ever Canadian Football League players from any other high school in North America.
