Thomas Laird Kennedy Secondary School is a school located in Mississauga, Ontario which was erected in honour of Premier of Ontario Thomas Laird Kennedy. Kennedy had been a long time resident of Streetsville (now part of Mississauga), where he was Master of the River Park Masonic Lodge. Thomas L. Kennedy Secondary School first opened its doors to approximately four hundred and fifty students in September 1953. It was named for the Honourable Thomas Laird Kennedy, L.L.D., who was born in the Dixie area on August 15, 1878. After attending Dixie Public School, he entered Parkdale Collegiate in Toronto.

In 1900, he commenced farming on the family land on Dixie. During World War I, Mr. Kennedy served in England, France and Belgium. In 1919, Colonel Kennedy started his political life. Twice, in 1930 and in 1943, he was appointed Minister of Agriculture for Ontario. The highlight of his career came in 1948 when he was elected Premier of Ontario and received the degree of Doctorate of Laws and Letters from the University of Toronto. Thomas L. Kennedy's dedication to public service ended in 1959 with his death.

Affectionately referred to as Mr. Ontario, Colonel Kennedy's tradition of upright, moral living, and public service has given Thomas L. Kennedy Secondary School a legacy of which it may be most proud.

The school has an extensive extracurricular program, including many athletic and sports teams. The school is best known for the consistent success of its basketball and cricket teams.
