Peel District School Board 's Applewood Family of schools, in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, Tomken Road Middle School has been around since 1968. The school includes a French Immersion program and a Sci-Tech program. Tomken Road Middle School also offers many diverse extracurricular activities. A student can attain "Tomken T" points by participating in these activities, which contribute to a "Tomken T" award at graduation. A Tomken T is an award that a student can receive at the end of eighth grade. To earn the award, a student must do two things; Achieve academic excellence (a certain percentage would contribute to a certain amount of points [see Academics] ), and participate in extracurricular activities. Extra-Curricular activities are divided into two groups, athletics and arts & community. Tabs are awarded for participation in these events.

At Tomken, students are encouraged to do well in academics. There are also awards and tabs given out to these excelling students.
*A grade of 60-69% is worth 2 Tomken T points.
*A grade of 70-79% is worth 4 Tomken T points
*A grade of 80-100% (Honours Average) is worth 5 Tomken T points.There are separate awards for outstanding achievement. Honour Roll is for students who achieve an academic average of 80% or higher, and a Tomken Medallion is for Gr.8 with the highest mark in the whole school year in a subject.
Dress Code
*Midriff & cleavage must be covered at all times.
*No bandannas or “dooo-rags”
*No clothing that promotes drugs/violence or alcohol.
*Clothing must not be ripped or frayed
*Disrespectful slogans must not be worn to school
*Shoulders must be covered at all times
*Any student not dressed appropriately will be counseled and be required to change either at home or at schoolci-Tech Program
Recently added into the school, this program exposes students to all the core subjects, but offers them additional opportunities to explore the aspects of
engineering and othersciences . This program is a great opportunity and involves a testing involving a written, and team challenge. The Sci-Tech program stresses Hands-On Minds On and encourage teamwork and cooperation.French Immersion Program
The
French Immersion program offers students a chance to go further into theFrench language with subjects such as Science, Social Studies, History, Geography, French Language Arts and etc. BecauseCanada is abilingual country, this is a beneficial program because the children are able to communicate in both their country's languages.External links
