Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management, or more commonly, the Drucker School of Management, is the business school of Claremont Graduate University, which is a member of the Claremont Colleges. The school is named in honor of Peter Drucker, who taught management at the school for over 30 years.

History
Peter Drucker came to California in 1971, where he developed the MBA program for working professionals at Claremont Graduate School, now Claremont Graduate University or CGU. The CGU advanced studies program was founded in 1925 and is the oldest all-graduate institution in the United States, with many notable alumni in different fields all over the world. The university's management school was named the Peter F. Drucker Graduate School of Management in his honor in 1987. He taught his last class at the school in the spring of 2002.
Masatoshi Ito provided an initial $3 million gift to help build the school’s current home and a subsequent $20 Million gift to assist the School with its future strategic plans.[1] In January 2004, Ito’s name was added to the school's name, becoming the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management.
The school adheres to Drucker's philosophy that management is a liberal art, taking into account not only economics, but also history, social theory, law, and the sciences.[2]
Campus
Drucker School of Management is located in Claremont, California in Los Angeles County. Claremont ranked #5 on Money Magazine's list of the "Best Places to Live" in a 2007 Money Magazine ranking of the top 100 towns and cities in America. They called Claremont "the City of Trees and PhDs," as they placed them 1st in the West.[3] The Burkle Building is home to both the Drucker School and the Drucker Institute.[4]

Programs
Drucker School of Management includes the following programs: Master of Business Administration (MBA); Fully-Employed (part-time) MBA; Executive MBA; Master of Science in Financial Engineering; Masters in Arts Management; Masters in Science in Advanced Management; and Ph.D. Program. The School also offers several joint programs: MBA/JD, Masters of Arts in Politics, Economics and Business, and MBA/Public Health. Through the The Robert Day School, a part of CMC, the Drucker School offers the latter part of a BA/MBA program.
International links
The Drucker School has a program in Oxford University for 12 days and another that visits Hong Kong for the same amount of time. It also offers exchange programs with Hitotsubashi University in Japan, University of St. Gallen in Switzerland, Inha University in South Korea, and Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University at Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
Rankings
US News & World Report continues to place the Drucker School as one of the Best Business Schools in 2012 rankings (top 75 out of 427 accredited programs), moving Drucker up in ranking by eight from the previous year; from #71 to #63 in the nation.[5] Drucker MBA program was also highlighted by US News & World Report in 2012 as one of the 10 "Business Schools on the Rise." This puts Drucker as the 3rd best business school in Los Angeles, and places its part-time program 6th best in California.[6] For the second time in a row,[7] Entrepreneur Magazine named the Drucker School as one of the world's Top 15 Business Schools in General Managaement.[8] The Aspen Institute's "Beyond Grey Pinstripes" (2009-2010 edition) placed Drucker in the Top 100 Business Schools in the world.[9] Net Impact's "Best of the Best" ranked the Drucker School 8th in the 2008 Edition of “Business as Unusual.” This was measured in how well school's prepared students for “ethical and socially responsible leadership.”[10] In 2009, The Princeton Review's "Best 296 Business Schools" ranked Drucker Professors as the 5th best in the country.[11] In 2010, in the "Best 300 Business Schools," the Princeton Review ranked the Drucker School 10th for Best Campus Environment, based on student assessment of the safety, attractiveness and location of the school.[12] The financial engineering program was ranked in the top 20 of financial engineering programs by QuantNetwork.[13]
People
Faculty
- Jean Lipman-Blumen - co-founding director of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Leadership. She received her Ph.D. from Harvard.
- Richard R. Ellsworth - Previously, he was on the faculty at the Harvard Business School. He is also the author of the book Leading with Purpose (Stanford University Press, 2002) and co-author of Leadership and the Quest for Integrity (Harvard Business School Press, 1989). One of his articles for the Harvard Business Review was a runner up for the McKinsey Prize for best article of the year. He received his MBA from Stanford and his D.B.A. from Harvard University.
- Joseph A. Maciariello – The co-author of “The Effective Executive in Action: A Step-by-Step Guide to Right Action” and “The Daily Drucker." He is also the only person to have ever co-authored a book with Peter Drucker. He also was the editor of the Revised Edition of Peter Drucker's classic entitled "Management." Received his Ph.D. at New York University (NYU).
- Vijay Sathe – Professor of the Harvard Business School for ten years prior to the Drucker School of Management. The author of Corporate Entrepreneurship: Top Managers and New Business Creation. Currently also a Professor for the IMD MBA program in Europe during the summer.
- Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi – Author of "Finding Flow," "Good Work," and "Good Business," the focus of his research is on creativity and happiness, particularly within a work setting. He is the former head of the department of psychology at the University of Chicago, earning his B.A. and Ph.D. there, as well.
Alumni
Alumni of the school include Shuming Zhao, Business School Dean at the University of Nanjing; Brad Adams, CEO and Chairman of Sunstone Systems International; and Colin Forkner, CEO, Pacific Coast National Bank.[14]
