Robert is the second son of Edward Morland, whose first son and namesake, Edward dies along with his mother of the "belly-gripe." Eleanor, having been brought up in the Beaufort household, has fallen in love with Richard, future Duke of York, although there was no hope for her marriage to so high a lord.
