Binford was the head college football coach for the McPherson Bulldogs located in McPherson, Kansas. He held that position for 6 seasons, from 1930 until 1935. His coaching record at McPherson was 23 wins, 26 losses and 4 ties. As of the conclusion of the 2010 season, this ranks him #3 at McPherson in total wins and #11 at the school in winning percentage (.472).[2]
Binford[3] was the 17th head college football coach for the Wichita State University Shockers located in Wichita, Kansas and he held that position for two seasons, from 1944 until 1945. His overall coaching record at Wichita State was 11 wins, 6 losses, and 1 tie. This ranks him 15th at Wichita State in terms of total wins and seventh at Wichita State in terms of winning percentage.[4]
Binford "re-started" the program after a one-year hiatus (1943) when the school did not field a team.[5]
