Curry is a large community in north-central Walker County, Alabama, USA. Curry High School is located here, and it is the closest community to the Lewis Smith Lake dam. Curry is served by Alabama State Route 257 which is simply called Curry Highway by locals.
Education
- Curry High School is a 5A school, serving grades 9-12.[1] The school colors are Blue and Gold with the mascot being the Yellow Jacket. It is a member of the Walker County Board of Education.[2]
Curry is most widely known for their spring fundraiser. The Cow Patty Drop, is an event where cow is allowed to roam around on the football field until it defecates. The football field is laid out in a grid pattern and the squares are auctioned off. The "owner" of the square on the grid in which the cow defecates wins a predetermined amount of money.
