Inman is a village in Holt County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 148 at the 2000 census. The community is named after W.H. Inman, a merchant.

Geography

Inman is located at coor dms|42|22|56|N|98|31|50|W|city (42.382340, -98.530649)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.8 km²), all of it land.

The community is located on combined US Route 20 and US Route 275, southeast of O'Neill, Nebraska.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 148 people, 62 households, and 43 families residing in the village. The population density was 514.0 people per square mile (197.0/km²). There were 66 housing units at an average density of 229.2/sq mi (87.9/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 95.27% White, 2.70% Pacific Islander, and 2.03% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.70% of the population.

There were 62 households out of which 30.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.1% were married couples living together, 8.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.6% were non-families. 27.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 2.91.

In the village the population was spread out with 27.0% under the age of 18, 3.4% from 18 to 24, 23.0% from 25 to 44, 27.7% from 45 to 64, and 18.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 108.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.4 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $26,250, and the median income for a family was $33,750. Males had a median income of $21,964 versus $14,583 for females. The per capita income for the village was $10,688. There were 17.5% of families and 25.0% of the population living below the poverty line, including 31.1% of under eighteens and 36.8% of those over 64.
