He has been drifting competitively since 2003 and was crowned the 2006 D1NZ champion. 'Fanga' is currently driving a modified, RB26DETT powered Holden VY Commodore after retiring his championship winning Nissan Silvia S15. Daniel started the D1NZ championship driving a Nissan Laurel C33 but did not win his first round until the start of the 2006 championship while driving the silvia. He went on to take another win at round 5 on his way to becoming the 2006 champion.[1]
Car
The Holden VY Commodore that Daniel uses to drift has been built after 3 years of him wanting to drift in a Holden. Originally 'Fanga' wanted to use a supercharged V8 engine but instead decided to use a Nissan RB26DETT that retains the standard engine with a single turbocharger conversion. This with an aftermarket ecu helps to make 350kW at the wheels. The majority of modifications have been made to the suspension, drivetrain and bodywork.
