Easy Access .History
The station opened in 1869, about ten years after the opening of the Main South Line. The initial platform was located north of the current station, and was moved south to its current position in 1891.cite web| work=Campbelltown City Council | title=History of Glenfield| url=http://www.campbelltown.nsw.gov.au/default.asp?iDocId=2108&iSubCatID=1376&iNavCatID=322| accessdate=25 January | accessyear=2007] Originally the station consisted of two side platforms. The role of Glenfield changed significantly with the opening of the East Hills- Glenfield extension of the East Hills line in 1987, which joins the Main South line just north of Glenfield station. The platform buildings were substantially redeveloped at this time. A goods-only track was opened at the west of the station in 1995 as part of the "Glenfield- Ingleburn passing loop". [Rogers, D. "The Glenfield- Ingleburn Passing Loop Project". Railway Digest, August 1994. ARHS (NSW Division).] It is proposed that this track will form part of the

Glenfield will be further redeveloped and expanded with the opening of the South-West rail link to Leppington in 2012cite web| work=TIDC | title=South West Rail Link| url=http://www.tidc.nsw.gov.au/Documents/936_PA2.pdf| accessdate=25 January | accessyear=2007] , with the addition of a fourth platform and the relocation of the station northwards.Platforms/service
