The original configuration was anisland platform served by a single track. The line was electrified in 1939. In 1956 acrossing loop was opened however it was not until 1987 that the line was duplicated through Revesby in association with the construction of the extension from East Hills to the Main South Line at Glenfield. Under the current Clearways Project, Revesby will gain a centre turnback platform by 2008, with a transit road so that the station can handle two terminating trains at once. Construction of this commenced in 2006. Stage 2 of this project will see quadruplication of the tracks between Kingsgrove and Revesby, with all-stations 'local' trains travelling via the Airport line terminating at Revesby. Express trains travelling via Sydenham will skip stations between Sydenham and Revesby on their way to and from Campbelltowncite web|work=Transport Intrastructure Development Corporation| title=Kingsgrove-Revesby Quadruplication|url=http://www.tidc.nsw.gov.au/ViewSite.aspx?PageID=469| accessdate=21 January| accessyear=2007] . East Hills will then cease to be a major intermediate terminus, but will be retained as a backup and for emergency and track possession use. After the completion of this Clearways Project, all-stations trains will use the two inner tracks, while fast skip-stop trains will use the two outer tracks. Revesby will have four platforms to allow passengers to interchange between the all-stations and express trains. The Clearways Project is due to be complete by 2010.Platforms/Services
