Revesby railway station is an intermediate station on the East Hills line of the CityRail network. It services the Sydney suburb of Revesby. Revesby has an island platform serving two tracks, but was originally built with only one track. It is mainly serviced by all-stations trains, and is only served by faster limited-stop trains during the morning and afternoon peak periods.cite web| work=CityRail | title=CityRail Timetables | url=http://www.cityrail.info/timetable/index.jsp| accessdate=22 April | accessyear=2007] The station was upgraded to allow Easy Access for wheelchairs via lifts as part of the Rail Clearways upgrade.

History

Revesby railway station opened with the rest of the East Hills Line in December 1931cite web|work=Nswrail.net| title=East Hills Line|url=http://www.nswrail.net/lines/show.php?name=NSW:east_hills| accessdate=3 January| accessyear=2007] . The original configuration was an island platform served by a single track. The line was electrified in 1939. In 1956 a crossing loop was opened however it was not until 1987 that the line was duplicated through Revesby in association with the construction of the extension from East Hills to the Main South Line at Glenfield. Under the current Clearways Project, Revesby will gain a centre turnback platform by 2008, with a transit road so that the station can handle two terminating trains at once. Construction of this commenced in 2006. Stage 2 of this project will see quadruplication of the tracks between Kingsgrove and Revesby, with all-stations 'local' trains travelling via the Airport line terminating at Revesby. Express trains travelling via Sydenham will skip stations between Sydenham and Revesby on their way to and from Campbelltowncite web|work=Transport Intrastructure Development Corporation| title=Kingsgrove-Revesby Quadruplication|url=http://www.tidc.nsw.gov.au/ViewSite.aspx?PageID=469| accessdate=21 January| accessyear=2007] . East Hills will then cease to be a major intermediate terminus, but will be retained as a backup and for emergency and track possession use. After the completion of this Clearways Project, all-stations trains will use the two inner tracks, while fast skip-stop trains will use the two outer tracks. Revesby will have four platforms to allow passengers to interchange between the all-stations and express trains. The Clearways Project is due to be complete by 2010.
