Most wine produced in Maine is made from fruit other than grapes, including apple, cranberry, and blueberry wines. A small number of wineries in Maine are producing limited quantities of wine made from locally-grown French hybrid grape varieties. Maine is a very cold climate for viticulture despite the moderating effects on its climate due to the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean.[1]
