It serves students from both Hollywood and Pembroke Pines in grades 9 through 12. The school is a part of the Broward County Public Schools district. Mr. Todd J. Lapace was named the principal in 2010.
Their mascot is the Mustang. School type: Public. School colors: Green, Orange, and White. School Hours 7:30- 2:30. The school was founded in 1957, and was moved to its current location in 1961.
McArthur High has an FCAT school grade of "C" for the 2009-2010 academic year.[1]
McArthur is historically known for having a strong athletic program. The wrestling team won multiple championships in the 80's and 90's earning the status of one of the elite wrestling programs in the state of Florida. The baseball team has also won a number of district championships in the past with the most recent coming in 2011 under the guidance of Head Baseball Coach, Daniel Baugh. The football team has also won its share of football games especially in the 90's and early 2000's never having a losing season until recently. Former Head Football Coach, Keith Franklin earned the best season for the Mustangs taking the team to the 3rd round of FHSAA playoffs in 2001. McArthur hired Andrew Rhoden in December 2010, a former assistant coach of Hampton University to return the Mustang program back to a contender in the state.

As of 2011, the total student enrollment was 2982. The ethnic makeup of the school was 45% White, 17% Black, 32% Hispanic, 3% Asian or Pacific Islander, 2% Multiracial, and 1% Native American or Native Alaskan.[2]
