Miramar ranked in the top 6% of all High Schools Nationwide
Ten (10) Broward County Public Schools high schools and one charter high school were recognized among Newsweek magazine’s top high schools in the nation in 2009. The rankings are derived by adding up the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate or Cambridge tests taken by students at a school divided by the number of seniors graduating the same year. This year’s list is based on data from the 2007/08 school year.[10]
Miramar High School is ranked #83 in Florida and #605 in the nation.[10]
Football team involved in brawl
The Florida High School Athletic Association suspended 26 Miramar players and 28 Flanagan players for playing from one to six weeks. In addition, both schools were fined by the State of Florida (Miramar $5,350; Flanagan, $6,800) and neither school was allowed to participate in the 2008 spring jamboree and 2008 fall preseason jamboree.[11]

Although they had very little equipment in comparison to similar programs at other schools, MHSTV received great support from the student body and administration. For the 2008 - 2009 year, the program was mostly student-run. For the 2009 - 2010 year the school's administration has incorporated the program into the International Baccalaureate program's Information technology in a global society (ITGS) course. MHSTV is still streamed via the school's website and has made over 120 episodes.[12]
