Yuryuzan (town)

Yuryuzan ( _ru. Юрюзань) is a town in Katav-Ivanovsky District of Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia, located on the Yuryuzan River (left tributary of the Ufa River), km to mi|254 from Chelyabinsk and km to mi|6|precision=1 from the closed town of Tryokhgorny. Population: 13,700 (2005 est.); 14,158 (2002 Census); 18,294 (1989 Census).

It was established in 1758 as the settlement of Yuryuzan-Ivanovsky Zavod ( _ru. Юрюзань-Ивановский Завод) to support the construction of an ironworks. Since the end of the 19th century, the settlement is known as Yuryuzansky Zavod ( _ru. Юрюзанский Завод). It was granted town status and renamed Yuryuzan on June 18, 1943.

Town economy centers around a large plant which produces refrigerators.
