The population was 194 at the 2010 census.[1] Every summer Concordia Language Villages' Mori no Ike Japanese village is held just outside Dent at Lakeside Camp.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.4 square miles (1.0 km2), all of it land.
Minnesota State Highway 108 serves as a main route in the community.
The mayor of Dent is Perry Coleman.
Demographics
As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 192 people, 77 households, and 49 families residing in the city. The population density was 501.0 people per square mile (195.1/km²). There were 80 housing units at an average density of 208.7 per square mile (81.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 100.00% White.
There were 77 households out of which 33.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.1% were married couples living together, 3.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.1% were non-families. 32.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 3.18.
In the city the population was spread out with 28.6% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 20.3% from 45 to 64, and 15.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 93.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.5 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $30,938, and the median income for a family was $34,167. Males had a median income of $27,321 versus $15,417 for females. The per capita income for the city was $12,024. About 3.7% of families and 12.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 14.1% of those under the age of eighteen and 20.7% of those sixty five or over.
