Essendon tram depot, Melbourne

Essendon Tram Depot is located in on Mt Alexander Rd in Travancore, a suburb of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia.

It is one of 8 depots operated in the Yarra Trams network. The depot was opened on the 11th October, 1906 by the North Melbourne Electric Tramway and Lighting Company. [http://www.vicsig.net/index.php?page=trams&depot=essendon]

Yard Layout

The main yard has 24 roads, 18 of which are covered. It has two double track entrances to eliminate the need for shunting on the road.It also features facilities for heavy maintenance.
