The major composers like saint Annamacharya, Tyagaraja, Badhrachala Ramadas were pioneers in the field of Carnatic music. In the area of instrumental music, giants such as Dwaram Venkataswamy Naidu (violin), Emani Sankara Sastry (veena) and Chitti Babu (veena) are famous. Contemporary stalwarts of Vocal music include Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna, Nedunuri Krishnamurthy, Srirangam Gopalaratnam, Sripada Pinakapani, Sarangapani and Nookala Chinna Satyanarayana. Yella Venkatesara Rao (mridangam) and U. Srinivas (mandolin) have also garnered recognition.
Film music
Susarla Dakshinamurthi and Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna are considered to be one of the influential music composers of south Indian cinema to receive international recognition[1] Music composers such as Pendyala Nageswara Rao, R. Sudarshanam and R. Goverdhanam duo made contribution to folklore films.[2]
Pithapuram Nageswara Rao, Madhavapeddi Satyam, P. Adinarayana Rao, Gali Penchala Narasimha Rao, Chellapilla Satyam, P. B. Sreenivas, S. P. Kodandapani, G. K. Venkatesh, S. Hanumantha Rao, etc were pioneers of Telugu film music and play back singing.
Ghantasala, S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, P. Susheela, S. Janaki, M. M. Keeravani, etc are some of the known music artists from Andhra Pradesh to receive National recognition. Other prominent Telugu film score and soundtrack composers of the present include Chakravarthi, Mani Sharma, Devi Sri Prasad, Mickey J Meyer, Ramana Gogula, R. P. Patnaik, Chakri (music director), Kalyani Malik, S. V. Krishna Reddy, Vandemataram Srinivas and Sri Kommineni.
