Bhangra
However, it is musically best-known as the home of punjabi folk music, a lively folk dance music that evolved into a musical genre called Bhangra when it became imported into Western countries by Punjabi immigrants. Its important to note Bhangra music and punjabi folk music compete for the punjabi audience in Punjab and abroad. Whereas the emphasis in bhangra is on the music, in punjabi folk music, the emphasis is on the singer and the lyrics.
