Music from the Punjab Punjab have well respected history throughout the world because of its oldest civilizations/oldest instruments and oldest weapons ever. Punjab have more than 300 instruments some of them are so primitive, they are no longer to be found expect in museums or music schools. Province includes many different varieties. The traditional music utilizes the main instruments like the dhol, bansuri, dholak, and tumbi which are used in Pakistan, India and throughout the world including music of North America. The most commonly recognized form of Punjabi music, bhangra,haripa is based on drum rhythms of the dhol, variety of dances are performed in Dhol. Punjabi music is a used in almost all marriages, concerts. Pakistan punjab area have its well reowned history, many of the instruments are developed in Pakistan including Dhol, Dhud, Tumbi, Tumba, Sitar, Tabla and Tanpura, which is used all over the world. In the 1960/70s these Tanpura, Sitar can easily be found in North American culture. Its modern popularity has led to the use of new instruments and electronic sound sampling. Bhangra,Haripa is a Punjabi folk dance for men & women, also Giddahwhich is performed by the women is commonly known worldwide.

Folk singers such as the Late Alam Lohar and currently Arif Lohar has introduced the chimta and a very influential style of singing punjabi folk stories and have contributed in many famous punjabi songs such as jugni, which is Alam Lohar's creation.

Original Pakistani Folk singers can be found in variety of places in the world, including Norway, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, UK, North America even in Australia. Bhangra and Panjabi folk songs have been an integral part of the fertile provinces cultural history and many themes are related to harvest and cultivation. Others still draw on the poetic history of the province which transcend ethnic and religious boundaries.
