Somerset Regional Council is a Local Government Area in Queensland, Australia. The Local Government Area was created in March 2008 as a result of the report of the Local Government Reform Commission released in July 2007. The new Council, located in the upper Brisbane Valley in South East Queensland, contains the entire area of two former Local Government Areas;
*Shire of Esk; and
*Shire of Kilcoy.
The report recommended that the new local government area should not be divided into wards and elect six councillors and a mayor. The Somerset Regional Council will cover an area of convert|5379|km2|sqmi|0|lk=on, contain an estimated resident population in 2006 of 19,291 and have an estimated operating budget of AUD24m.
The Regional Council covers the towns of Coominya, Esk, Fernvale, Glamorganvale, Glenfern, Harlin, Hazeldean, Jimna, Kilcoy, Linville, Lowood, Minden, Monsildale, Moore, Toogoolawah, Villeneuve and Winya.
