Mesochora had a population of 465 in 2001 for the settlement.
Mesochora is built 800 m above sea level. Its nearby mountaintops in which they are part of the Pindus ranges includes Avgo, Alamanos and Tsigkori. It is located by the GR-30 (Trikala - Arta). It is inhabited in the winter and the summer months. The former name was known as Vitsitsa (Βιτσίτσα). Its residents are based in agriculture.
During the Ottoman rule, the mountain village was disturbed. In 1912, it declared itself a mountain municipality and was renamed Mesochora in 1928. It became a part of the municipality of Pynda in 1997 under the Capodistrian Plan.
Mesochora recently constructed a dam.

After World War II and the Greek Civil War, the population steadily declined as residents moved to larger towns and cities and the richest countries in the world, the population grew between the 1981 and 1991 but dropped between 1991 and 2001.
Electricity and automobiles arrived in the 1970s, it was linked with pavement in the late-20th century, television arrived in the 1980s. Internet and computers arrived in the late-1990s.
