United States Census Bureau , the CDP has a total area of 0.7square mile s (1.8km² ), all of it land.Stratford lies near the historic shoreline of
Tulare Lake . The Kings River flows through an artificial channel into the normally dry Tulare Lake bed about ten miles (16 km) south of Stratford. As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 1,264 people, 292 households, and 259 families residing in the CDP. Thepopulation density was 1,816.9 people per square mile (697.2/km²). There were 311 housing units at an average density of 447.0/sq mi (171.5/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 33.47% White, 1.19% African American, 1.98% Native American, 1.74% Asian, 0.55% Pacific Islander, 54.83% from other races, and 6.25% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 75.95% of the population.There were 292 households out of which 64.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 74.3% were married couples living together, 9.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 11.0% were non-families. 8.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 4.33 and the average family size was 4.57.
In the CDP the population was spread out with 40.8% under the age of 18, 11.7% from 18 to 24, 26.4% from 25 to 44, 15.7% from 45 to 64, and 5.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 24 years. For every 100 females there were 103.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 106.6 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $29,205, and the median income for a family was $35,481. Males had a median income of $33,750 versus $28,125 for females. The
per capita income for the CDP was $9,790. About 20.2% of families and 24.8% of the population were below thepoverty line , including 28.1% of those under age 18 and 6.9% of those age 65 or over.Transportation
