Flash FloodThe New Hance Trail (a.k.a. Red Canyon Trail) is a hiking trail on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park, located in the U.S. state of Arizona. It is one of the "unmaintained" trails and is considered one of the most difficult trails on the South Rim, together with the similar Tanner Trail. Contrary to the Tanner trail, there is no parking available at the trailhead, which is located about 5 minutes on foot north of the South Rim main road. The trail ends at the Hance rapids of the Colorado. The top part of the trail is very rugged, the terrain consisting of rather large boulders with a path suggested by the odd cairn. This, and the remote location has kept most tourists away, so the New Hance trail is almost exclusively populated by overnight hikers.
