Texas Football Classic

Texas Football Classic

The Texas Football Classic is a high school football event that takes place at the beginning of each football season at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. It was started in 1999 by the staff of Dave Campbell's Texas Football, an annual football publication that highlights every high school, college, and professional team in the state of Texas. Since then, it has grown from three games to five and spans three days, usually over Labor Day weekend.

Among the notable players that have participated in short history of the Classic are former University of Texas and current Chicago Bears headcase Cedric Benson, former University of Houston and current Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb, former University of Iowa quarterback Drew Tate and current University of Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel.

2008 Classic

After a scheduling conflict moved the Classic to the week after Labor Day last year, the event returns to its traditional Labor Day schedule in 2008.

*San Antonio Southwest vs. Georgetown

Friday, August 29th:
*Round Rock Westwood vs. Austin Lake Travis

Saturday, August 30th:
