Texas (USA) that serves grades 9 through 12 as part of theLake Travis Independent School District . It was established in 1981 after separating from theDripping Springs Independent School District . It has two distinguished programs: the highly acclaimed, award-winning Cavalier Band, which has won numerous awards and continues to have success. And the Football team, 4A Division II State Champions.The orchestra, choir, art, speech/debate, and theater arts programs have also won
University Interscholastic League licensed events, though with some irregularity. It is the only high school in the state of Texas that claims the Cavalier as its mascot.With many new renovations taking place, the school is growing quickly.
Extracurricular activities
Football
The Lake Travis Football program is highly respected for being one of the few programs in Texas to win four straight district titles, and is a state playoff regular. Before 2007, though, Lake Travis had never made it passed the second round (Area Championship) of the state football playoffs. In the 2007 season, Lake Travis had its most successful season ever, winning the District Championship again before the playoffs, as well as winning the Bi-District Championship, Area Championship, Regional Championship, State Quarter-Finals, and State Semi-Finals in the Texas Class 4A, Division II Playoffs in five games. On December 22, Lake Travis defeated Highland Park High School in Dallas with a final score of 36-34 to become the 2007 Texas Class 4A Div. II State Champions. The game was held at
Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco, home of the Baylor Bears. This was not only Lake Travis High School's first State Title in football, but it was the first time they had ever played in the State Championship Game. Jeff Dicus left after the 2007 season to take over atDuncanville High School . His successor isChad Morris , who had gone 135-25 in his previous 14 years as a head coach, winning a Class 4A, Division I championship atBay City High School in 2000. The Lake Travis High School football program has a recently constructed an indoor turf room along with a state-of-the-art weightroom. The weightroom is currently the largest high school weight room in the state of Texas. [Citation Needed]
Fine Arts
Band
Lake Travis High School has an well-respected band program, led by band director Kenny Vise. The Cavalier Band produces and performs a new marching show every fall for use at football half-time shows. Off the field and on the stage the band always ranks high in UIL competitions and TMEA All State and ALL Region competitions.
Cavalettes
The Cavalette Dance Team is an organization of dancers who perform at football game half-time shows with the assistance of the band. They also have their annual Spring Show that showcases the dancers at their finest.
Theater Arts
The theater program is an organized group that frequently puts on shows for the entertainment of the school.
