Government

Although unquestionably a suburb of Reading, Fords Farm is not within the Borough of Reading. Rather it forms part of the civil parish of Holybrook, which has an elected parish council. It in turn is part of the area of the unitary authority of West Berkshire. Both the parish council and the unitary authority are responsible for different aspects of local government.

Fords Farm is part of the Reading West parliamentary constituency. It is singular. It is not part of Southcote or Calcot.

Fords Farm currently has two shops, Forbuoys and Sun Lung.
