* "Oyashio" class (old): A single unit, launched on May 25, 1959 and stricken on September 30, 1976. The first indigenous submarine of the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force. Displacement 1139 t surfaced, 1420t when submerged, armament 4x533 mm bow torpedo tubes, complement 65.
