In geometry, the elongated square dipyramid is one of the Johnson solids ("J"15). As the name suggests, it can be constructed by elongating an octahedron by inserting a square prism between its congruent halves.
A zircon crystal is an example of an elongated square dipyramid.
The 92 Johnson solids were named and described by Norman Johnson in 1966.
